Modern Slavery Statement
This statement sets out the steps taken by Blackfield Systems Ltd to understand and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. Although we are below the £36m turnover threshold at which a statement is mandatory under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we publish this statement voluntarily because we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our operations.
Introduction
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms — including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking — all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and transparently in all our business dealings and relationships.
Our organisation and structure
Blackfield Systems Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales, providing data integrity monitoring services to commercial operators. We are a small organisation, and our supply chain is correspondingly limited, consisting primarily of professional, technology and business-services suppliers. Given the nature and location of our operations and suppliers, we assess our overall exposure to modern slavery as low, while recognising that no organisation is entirely without risk.
Our policies
We operate policies that reflect our commitment to acting ethically and lawfully in all of our business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our business or supply chains. These cover our approach to ethical conduct, the recruitment and engagement of personnel, and the standards we expect of our suppliers. All staff are expected to act with integrity and to report any concerns.
Due diligence and risk assessment
As part of our efforts to identify and mitigate risk, we seek to work with suppliers who share our values and who comply with applicable laws, including in relation to employment, health and safety, and human rights. We consider modern slavery risk as part of our supplier selection and ongoing relationships, with particular attention to any higher-risk goods, services or jurisdictions. Where concerns are identified, we will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include ending the relationship.
Training and awareness
We ensure that those involved in selecting and managing suppliers understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking, and how to identify and respond to potential warning signs. We keep our level of awareness and training proportionate to the size of our organisation and the risks we face.
Approval
This statement is made in line with the principles of section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our voluntary modern slavery statement. It has been approved by the board of directors of Blackfield Systems Ltd.
